FINDING A STRUCTURE (I):
EIGHT PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS
1. Who is the protagonist?
2. What is the protagonist’s situation at the beginning of the script?
3. Who or what is the antagonist?
4. What event or occasion serves as catalyst?
5. What is the protagonist’s dramatic action?
6. What is the antagonist’s dramatic action?
7. How is the protagonist’s action resolved?
8. Do you have any images or ideas, however unformed, as to the
climax? The ending?
