The Apartment

The Apartment is a charming film from the 1960's , where a young man allows the world to take advantage of his kind nature. Everyone in his office uses his apartment for their liaisons with mistress. this leads to the protagonist getting promoted, but again only for the use of his apartment. Meanwhile his love for a co-worker takes interesting turns as she is in fact the mistress of the head of the company. Though the boss mistreats this women  she succumbs to him. all until our protagonist gets some courage to stand up for himself and her. The entire film is beatifully acted and enjoyable to watch. In class we focused mostly on the reversal of fortunes, this is common in most films and stories. A character will start with one status and then become another by the end. Within the scene, where Baxter thinks he is getting a promotion, we watch the reversal of fortune and status.
